Heather Gale is a non-fiction picture book author.
Her book, Ho’onani: Hula Warrior has been mentioned in New York Times and made the New York Public Library’s 2019 Best Picture Books of the year!
Based on the documentary, A Place in the Middle, by filmmakers Dean Hamer and Joe Wilson, the story celebrates Hawaiian culture and shows how one girl can learn to lead the boys-only troupe and accept who she really is.
Heather is thrilled to read the story out loud and discuss any aspects of the story or process with classes who are interested!
Most video conferences are 20-30 minutes long.

About Heather…
Before becoming an author, Heather was an orthotist who also made prosthetics. Today she lives in Toronto with her husband and has two sons and two dogs. And every now and then she visits her family in NZ.
