A Kids’ Guide to Canada – By Kids, For Kids is a national project under official sponsorship of the Canadian Education Association.
Beginning in January 2017, A Kids’ Guide to Canada is going to invite every elementary student in Canada to personally contribute to the celebrations of Canada’s 150th birthday, by collaborating and helping to create an interactive online guide to Canada which is produced by kids and for kids!
We’re going to challenge students in every corner of the country to create digital artifacts of their choice to honour and introduce the land and people of their home communities to the children across the rest of Canada’s enormous physical and multicultural landscape.
With a special focus on connecting students in remote, marginalized and Indigenous communities, the project will provide students with exciting opportunities to use the power of technologies both old and new to meet and truly get to know their multi-cultured peers, from sea to shining sea, to shining sea. Peer-to-peer connections and learning is at the project’s heart and soul. And through this deeply meaningful 150th birthday celebration, our students have a very real opportunity to help build a new Canadian culture of mutual understanding, empathy, and respect – where all children can grow up and celebrate being equally “Strong, Proud, and Free”.

Registration for AKGTCanada will open in the fall of 2016.
