Program Description: A science educator and communicator, Hildebrand is passionate about all things science and is committed to inspiring the next generation of scientists, explorers, and conservationists! He is the VP of Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants, a program which brings adventure and exploration into classrooms through virtual speakers and field trips.

Hildebrand is also the founder of Science Literacy Week, a Canada-wide celebration of science.

Program Title: Spotlight with Marisa Sterling – Professional Engineer

Program Description: Marisa Sterling is a distinguished engineer and a champion for the younger generation. As Assistant Dean and Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Professionalism at U of T, Sterling aims to break the glass ceiling for young girls in STEM. Her goal is to achieve gender diversity in the engineering profession.

Sterling also created the first Inclusion Lens for Canada’s engineers, a web-based tool to make events inclusive of all people!

Program Title: Spotlight with Sunniva Sorby and Hilde Fålun Strøm – Polar Ambassadors and Citizen Scientists

Date: Thursday, October 7th

Program Description: Sunniva Sorby and Hilde Fålun Strøm made history in the Arctic as the first all-female team to overwinter in the Arctic. As polar ambassadors and citizen scientists, Sorby and Strøm spent months in the remote Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard collecting data for climate change research.

They co-founded Hearts in the Ice, a social media project aimed at sparking meaningful conversation on how we can all work together to embrace our precious planet.
