RCMPtalks: A National Conversation on Bullying (Feb 25, 10:00-11:30 MT/12:00-1:30 ET) Gr 9-12 – Observation only
This live national conversation will be led by subject matter experts, and will expose students to other perspectives and regions in Canada by connecting six interactive classrooms from across the country. By the end of the learning experience, students will have learned about the types and consequences of bullying &cyberbullying, the importance of healthy relationships, steps to take when dealing with bullying & cyberbullying and actions youth can take to help prevent bullying & cyberbullying.

International Polar Bear Day (Feb 27, 10:30-11:50 MT/12:30-1:50 ET) Gr 8-12
We invite your classroom to celebrate International Polar Bear Day by connecting LIVE to the Canadian Arctic, the backyard of our Polar Bears. On February 27th, students will be joining globally through video conference technology for a global conversation on global warming’s impact on the polar bears population and how art can be used to spread awareness about this issue.

This 1 hour event, facilitated by an acclaimed Political Science professor, will look at the recent events in Paris, putting them into a larger context of ISIS, Freedom of Speech, Islam and the influence of Globalization and the West. Students will have an opportunity to provide questions in advance of the session.

Middle East in Transition: Peace and Conflict – PI (We, Mar 5, 9:00-10:20 MT/11:00-12:20 ET)** Gr 9-12
This two part event on March 5th and 24th will explore how we think about the choice between violence and non-violence, both in terms of how we remember the history of these movements, and in the current context of transition in the Middle East. Students will explore their personal and moral response to violence, and how
they view the difference between terrorism and self-defense, or between appropriate and inappropriate violence. Students will explore the balance of violence and nonviolence involved in key historical transitions in order to better understand current resistance movements across the Middle East.
