{"id":11180,"date":"2026-06-30T08:24:19","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T08:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digitalhumanlibrary.com\/a-kids-guide-to-canada-needs-your-kids\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T08:24:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T08:24:19","slug":"a-kids-guide-to-canada-needs-your-kids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digitalhumanlibrary.com\/hi\/a-kids-guide-to-canada-needs-your-kids\/","title":{"rendered":"A Kids&#8217; Guide to Canada Needs Your Kids!"},"content":{"rendered":"Beginning in January 2017 A Kids' Guide to Canada launched and caught the attention of thousands of excited Canadian t<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eachers, principals, superintendents, directors, trustees, and parents.\u00a0<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With over a quarter of a million dollars of support from educational organizations, small businesses, and the Canadian Government, this teacher-led initiative is inviting every K-8 teacher and class in Canada to investigate, honour, and introduce the land and people of their neighbourhood community to the children of Canada, and to help build a new era of \u201cunderstanding, empathy, respect\u201d in the process. (Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Call to Action 63.3)<\/span>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Kids are invited to help create Canada\u2019s first ever multi-lingual, <\/strong><strong>multi-cultural interactive guide to Canada created by kids, for kids.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6256 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.digitalhumanlibrary.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/5-MakingBetterFuture.jpg\" alt=\"5-makingbetterfuture\" width=\"400\" height=\"196\" \/><\/p>\nThe project takes place in 3 parts, with a focus on students creating artifacts that will be shared on an interactive map hosted by ESRI to create Canada's first ever multilingual multi-cultural interactive guide to Canada. The second and third parts of the project are voluntary, and include students learning about cross-cultural communication, digital safety and citizenship, and finally engaging in\u00a0cross-Canada connections to pursue deeper learning using the Digital Human Library.\n\nWith EQAO and report cards right around the corner, wouldn't it be wonderful to have a fun year end project to look forward to in June?
